Hi, I’m Steph. I’m a lipstick-wearing, vintage fashion-loving, fabric-obsessed, colour-embracing, single gal who loves to sew and make all the things for my little flat in Essex, England. I’m also a journalist, writing for amazing homes brands including Ideal Home and Country Homes & Interiors, so constantly have the ‘I-wants’ for pretty homewares!
I’ve been meaning to start a blog for over a year now, but put it off because I’ve wondered who on earth would want to read it. But after some persuading, I’ve decided to give it a try.
After parting ways with my boyfriend of seven-and-a-bit years and selling our first home together, I found myself as the owner of a little one bed, ground floor flat with white walls and no carpet. This was the opportunity I’d been waiting for. A blank canvas to make my own (with nobody to tell me I don’t need another string of bunting). So I have put all my energy into making it into my very own super-girlie space filled with colour and print, and I can’t wait to share with you everything I’ve been up to.
I have also just begun a journey in dressmaking. It’s a stop/start journey which often involves long periods of daydreaming about dresses and skirts at my desk, then laying on the sofa in front of Eastenders rather than being productive when I get home. But I’m figuring this blog will be the proverbial kick up the backside I need, so with a few projects under my belt, and lots more in the pipeline, I’ll also be documenting my successes and many, many disasters. Seam rippers at the ready!
